Eyebrow Hair Loss due to Cancer / Thyroid / Diabetes / Ageing etc
Eyebrow hair fall/hair loss due to Thyroid:
Hairfall is a very common problem that affects all of the human population and is almost inevitable. The average human can lose up-to 100 hairs per day. The very reason why you wouldn’t notice this is because the hair lost is quickly replaced over a period of time. However, people battling with conditions and diseases like cancer, thyroid, and diabetes, are highly affected by hair loss as their lost hair takes much longer to be replaced compared to the average population. Not only diseases, but as a human gets older, they lose more and more hair as they age. So if you’re experiencing hair loss due to any of these medical problems, or aging, microblading would be your solution! If you are experiencing hair loss due to thyroid disease, or another medical problem, microblading is the answer!
The life cycle of a hair goes through three stages. The first stage, the growth phase, is called the Anagen phase. During this time, hair is actively growing. At any given time, about 90 percent of the hair on your head is in this phase. The second phase is the Catagen phase, which is the transition phase. During this phase, hair stops actively growing for three weeks. Less than 1 percent of the hairs on your scalp goes through this phase at a time. The final phase is the Telogen phase, where the hair prepares to shed. It is pushed out of the follicle and falls out. About 50 to 150 Telogen hairs are shed per day for the average person.
Those with a thyroid condition may experience these phases differently. You may have diffuse hair loss or thinning across the whole scalp. You may also have changes in hair texture. Those with hypothyroidism may have dry or coarse hair, while those with hyperthyroidism have extra-soft or fine hair.
The hair on your scalp isn’t the only hair affected by a thyroid condition. The hair on your eyebrows can also be sparse and uneven. People who have hypothyroidism specifically may notice hair loss in the outer third of the eyebrow, which is the thinnest part of the brow that points toward the ears. Just because you have eyebrow hair loss doesn’t mean you have a thyroid condition, but you should see a doctor if you have any concerns. If you are unsatisfied with the appearance of your eyebrows, microblading can offer the solution you are looking for. Microblading is a semi-permanent makeup procedure that involves the application of pigments to the eyebrow area. These pigments are applied in small, hair-like strokes that resemble your natural brows. You can wake up every single day with full and symmetrical brows, thanks to microblading.
Clients on thyroid medication need touch ups more often as the color seems to fade more quickly. Blood thinning medications and supplements cause more bleeding during the procedure, making it difficult for the skin to retain pigment. NSAIDS (such as Aleve, Ibuprofen and Aspirin) and fish oil supplements are some examples of blood thinners. It is recommended to refrain from these within the days prior to procedure. Cholesterol and blood pressure medication can have similar problems. Although not blood thinners, these medications work against blood platelets sticking together. If you are on any medications, prescription or over the counter, that have been prescribed by your doctor do not stop taking your medication. Pigment retention is difficult but not impossible. It may just require more frequent touch ups as in thyroid patients, twice yearly versus once yearly.
We have worked with many Thyroid patients based out of Mumbai, India & Abroad and have learnt that its not the same journey for every client. However the end result after both sessions of Eyebrow treatment is always a great improvement over their sparse eyebrows.
Diabetics are at more risk for infection, as well as other individuals with a compromised immune system or who don’t heal as well as someone without one of these conditions. A doctor’s release or a declaration statement is required for a patient with one of these conditions declaring that their sugar is in a safe range for them to undergo this treatment.
It is recommended that a cancer survivor wait a minimum 6 months to one year after the completion of treatment to get Microbladed.
It is recommended to not Microblade pregnant or nursing moms. There is no hard research data on Microblading and pregnancy and nursing so erring on the side of caution is the best choice. The baby is the only thing that matters!
Its advised to wait until breastfeeding is over.
