You are required to arrive wearing loose fitting airy clean cotton clothes and a loose cotton bra on the day of appointment.

The procedure typically takes about 2 – 3 hours to complete where the technician will first design the shape & position of the nipple and take your approval on the same, they also discuss the right colour that can blend naturally with your skin.  although the exact time may vary depending on the size and complexity of the areola being tattooed.

After the procedure, the patient may experience some swelling, redness, or tenderness in the treated area. Nipple reconstruction is a surgical procedure to create a raised nipple however it is limited to raising the skin. It does not lend the necessary colour circle gradient which makes a proper areola and thus it must be followed by areola tattooing. A 3D areola tattooing can create the impression of raised nipples by pure artistic technique. You may completely skip the surgical reconstruction and achieve similar visual effects with just skilled tattooing. However if you wish that the nipple should actually be raised above skin for the touch and its physical dimensions, you may go for surgical reconstruction as well as areola tattooing.

In the normal scenario with no surgeries near the breast area, you may plan it anytime, however in the case of surgeries, a healing period of 3 – 5 months is advisable for the surgery scars to heal completely on their own first, retouching an unhealed area may lead to compromised outcomes and further scarring. The procedure can take 1.5 to 3 hours depending upon the size and detailing created by your tattooist.

After the tattooing is done, your aesthetician will give a set of simple care instructions that need to be followed for 7 – 10 days. There won’t be much discomfort in the body once the procedure is done, just some sensitivity upon touching which will also subside in 3-6 days. Of Course you need to keep the area dry and avoid soaking or swimming for a week’s time. Although the areola tattoo looks very beautiful right after the procedure, it’s usually not the final healed look. You need to wait for 25 – 40 days to realise how your nipples are looking. You may or may not feel the need for another round of touch up to further enhance or perfect your tattoo up to your desired liking.
